Through a strategy that will be implemented in the coming years, the authorities seek to position the country as a gastronomic destination by 2026.
According to the National Gastronomic Tourism Strategy for the period from 2019 to 2025, to be implemented by the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT), the country will work in four axes.
More than one thousand establishments are operating in Managua, a 15% increase over the last year.
The increase in consumption derived from the improved economic situation that the country is experiencing is the main reason behind the increase in the supply of restaurants and other food establishments in Managua.
Laprensa.com.ni reports that "...`The Nicaraguan Tourism Institute reported in the statistical yearbook that 604 were restaurants counted in Managualast year, but René Hauser, president of the Managua Restaurant Association, estimates that there are more than a thousand premises, whose growth has been driven this year by the start of operations of franchises of national, Salvadoran and American capital`."
Suppliers and distributors in the sectors representing food, gastronomy and hospitality in El Salvador and Central America will be taking part in business meetings from June 27 to 29 in San Salvador.

El Salvador will be hosting the fifth edition of the Regional Provider Fair "Ferprotur 2014" for the hotel and restaurant industry, which will be held on 24 and 25 March in San Salvador.
In the fifth edition of Ferprotur national and international companies providing products, goods and services for the hotel and restaurant industry will come together.
Between 2010 until October 2013 at least 500 restaurants were built in the country.
The data was supplied by the Association of Engineers and Architects (CFIA). The increase occurred in all areas and all categories, which include restaurants and bars, plus six other categories, as defined by the Treasury Department.
