Due to operational and security limitations, the airline has decided to bring forward the suspension of its flights from Lima and Bogotá to Caracas from July 27, instead of August 16 as originally planned.

Bogotá, July 27, 2017.Due to operational limitations registered in the last few hours, Avianca is obliged to suspend its operations to Venezuela from today, and NOT from August 16 as scheduled.This includes closing ticket saleson the routes connecting Caracas with Bogotá and Lima.
As of August 16, the Bogota-Caracas-Bogotá and Lima-Caracas-Lima flight routes will cease to operate due to the difficulties experienced in air operations in the South American country.

Bogotá, July 26, 2017.Following a technical meeting held today in Bogotá with the Aeronautical Authorities, Avianca notified the directors of the National Civil Aeronautics Institute of Venezuela and AEROCIVIL of Colombia, of a decision to suspend flights to and from the neighboring country.
Lufthansa has announced that from March 2018 it will start operating two flights per week between Juan Santamaría International Airport and the German city of Frankfurt.
Flights to San Jose will take place on an Airbus A340-300, which has 279 seats that cover Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class. Flight LH518 departs from the Lufthansa Frankfurt hub at 13:45 and arrives in San José late in the afternoon at 5:55 pm local time.The return flight departs from San Jose in the afternoon at 7:50 p.m. and lands at Frankfurt Airport the following day at 3:10 p.m. with a flight time of approximately 11 hours.
Air France has announced that from April 2018 it will operate two flights per week between Paris and San José on a permanent basis.
"...The airline reported this decision after resuming direct flights to Costa Rica on November 2.On that occasion they indicated that the service (weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays) would be maintained until the end of March of 2017."
It has been announced that as of November 15, the Panamanian airline will start operating four frequencies per week to the city of Mendoza, in Argentina.
In a statement issued by the company, it was stressed that this will be the fourth destination that the airline will operate in Argentina. It currently offers flights to Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario.
The low-cost airline Wingo has announced that from July it will be increasing the number of flights from Panama to the cities of Cali, Bogota and Medellín.
According to a representatives from the airline,"... from July, flights from Panama to Cali will increase from 2 to 3 frequencies a week, from Panama to Medellín from 4 to 5 and to Bogota [there will be] a daily flight."
It has been announced that as of June 27 the airline Wamos will start operating its new weekly flight between the Spanish city and the international airport of La Aurora.

The airline LATAM has announced that from January 2018 it will be operating three weekly frequencies between Lima and San José.

The union of pilots has announced that on June 15 they will go on strike if it is not possible to reach an agreement with the airline beforehand.
The conflict pitting commercial pilots against the Panamanian airline could get more complicated from June 15, the day on which the strike would start, if the airline's representatives do not respond to their requests.

Guatemala, May 18, 2017.The General Directorate of Civil Aviation - DGAC - and the Colombian aeronautical authorities signed an air services agreement today, which establishes that both nations will be able to operate within their territories without limits on frequencies, routes and in any point of each State.
In 2016 the number of passengers who flew from one destination to another within the country exceeded 265 thousand, registering an increase of 27% compared to 2015.
Favored by the poor state of the road infrastructure, the domestic air market continues to record significant growth rates. Figures from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation indicate that in 2016 alone 265,500 passengers traveled on domestic flights.
