'Antares', the bars and restaurants complex, is being developed by 'Grupo Dent', and could be open in December.
It is located in Barrio Dent, San Pedro de Montes de Oca, and comprises 13 stores, with sizes varying from 240 to 330 square meters.
"The Group opted for erecting the food center in Barrio Dent because they indentified a 'scarce' supply of sites of varied food in San Jose's east", said Roberto Dent, company spokesperson.
The Guatemalan company will open 5 new restaurants in the country in the first half of next year.
These new restaurants will be located in rural areas and will generate 100 jobs, said José Villalobos, commercial manager of the chain.
"Pollo Campero is in the midst of a global expansion process. In one month it will open a restaurant in India and is negotiating another in Saudi Arabia. It is also located in China", reported Nacion.com.
"QSR Internacional", Costa Rican operator of the KFC, Quiznos and Teriyaki franchises, opened three new restaurants in the country.
Kentucky Fried Chicken opened its 24th store in the country, located in the shopping center "Milla Platino", in Lindora, Santa Ana. Gloriana Castro, Marketing Supervisor for the three franchises, reported that $3.5 million were invested in this opening, which adds to what was already invested in the Quiznos and Teriyaki restaurants.
The franchise was acquired by Jorge Alcázar, owner of chicken food chain "Restaurantes AS".
Domino's used to operate mostly as an express delivery service, but the new owners will open restaurants with capacity for 50 to 75 people. They will start with a store in the east of San José, and another in the west of the city.
The franchise was owned by Mexican group "Grupo Mozarella" (BGM), who closed its Costa Rican stores in February 2009.
The $2 million restaurant maximizes usage of natural light and does not need air conditioning.
Located in Lindora, Santa Ana, western San José, it has 400 square meters of construction. It employs 50 people, and is the chain's 34th store in the country.
According to Arcos Dorados, McDonald's operator in Costa Rica and Latin America, this is the first "ecological" restaurant in Central America.
In the first six months of the year, four fast food franchises have opened six new restaurants.
With an investment of $3.5 million, the firm QSR (Quick Service Restaurant), owner of the franchises KFC, Quiznos, and Teriyaki, opened three locations in Santa Ana. Arcos Dorados, the owner of the McDonald’s franchise, opened three locations in San Ramon, Grecia, and Liberia.
Aguaceros de Esperanza Group of Costa Rica will invest $5 million for the construction of the franchise’s restaurants.
With an investment of $1.3 million for each building, the Aguaceros de Esperanza Group has scheduled opening its first restaurant in Santa Ana, San José, in late 2009.
According to Nacion.com, group president Cristian Villegas stressed that "Applebee's Costa Rica will be aimed at the middle, upper middle and high class ‘with a family-menu,’ featuring salads, quesadillas, meats (ribs and chicken filets and fajitas), seafood, pasta, burgers, desserts and beverages."
The company is scheduled to open three new restaurants in Santa Ana by end of March.
Daniel Valverde, brand and sales manager for KFC Costa Rica informed Elfinancierocr.com: "The establishments are in the new Villa Platino shopping center which is located on the highway that connects San Antonio de Belén to Santa Ana. With these transactions, the company will have 24 KFC, 16 Quiznos and 5 Teriyaki restaurants, for a total of 45 establishments.
The Golden Arches group, which manages the McDonald's franchise in Central America, announce that Costa Rica and Panama will receive an investment of more than $3 million in remodeling and new restaurants.
Loney Armijo, regional operations director of Golden Arches, said that they will be investing some $3.5 million in Panama in 2008 and 2009. While in Costa Rica it will be $4 million since they are planning to open 4 new restaurants in Villa Grecia, San Ramon and Liberia.
