The state power project involves the construction of a substation with two 230 kV transformers in the area of Coyol in the province of Alajuela.
The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) will fund the project using a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) and expects the station to become operational in the third quarter of 2015.
The government of Guatemala is inviting companies to take part in an international tender for the construction of 604 kilometers of the electrical transmission network.
As previously announced on July 15, the Ministry of Energy and Mines in Guatemala has convened a formal tender to expand electricity coverage of the country through ".... the installation of 29 new substations, expansion of 22 existing ones and the adaptation of 51 kilometers of line."
An announcement has been made that the conditions for the tender for 574 kilometers of power lines will be released on July 31.
The work comprises of "... 29 new substations, expansion of 25 new lines and more than 12 adaptations, establishing 574 kilometers of electricity transmission, divided into 5 lots covering the national territory."

In 2013 63% of the electrical energy fed into the transmission networks in the region was generated from renewable sources.

Two turbines have been added to the Miraflores power plant, raising the total generating capacity of the Panama Canal Authority to 232 megawatts.

The government is building eight substations and is looking for funding to develop eight more in different regions.
At the moment in Nicaragua 8 electric substations are under construction and another eight are planned for 2016. The Government of the country is looking for funding for these projects, whose cost is estimated at $27 million.
The country needs these 16 electrical substations "for electricity projects being run as part of the Sustainable Electrification and Renewable Energy (NPHS) project to improve the electricity connections in the Pacific."

The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad is putting out to tender the construction, supply of materials, installation and commissioning of the Reventazón Transmission Substation.
The contractor will have to comply with the final plans and specifications provided by the institution, and deliver the entire work as one only full requirement.
The opening of bids will be held on November 11 of this year, and the process will be conducted under the regulations of a public tender.
