In Guatemala, the company Mayoreo de Computación S.A. was once again selected by the authorities and will be in charge of providing the service of issuing driver's licenses for an 84-month term.
According to the awarding minutes, which were published in the Guatecompras.gob.gt portal on February 18, for the public tender in question the German company Mühlbauer Id Services GMBH submitted a proposal amounting to $97.7 million and that of Mayoreo de Computación S.A. (Maycom) to $94.7 million. (Maycom) for $94.3 million.
An appeal of disagreement filed by Mayoreo de Computación S.A. was rejected after the Guatemalan authorities dismissed its proposal, the only one presented in the contest.

Mayoreo de Computacion S.A. was the only company that submitted its proposal in the tender for the service of issuing licenses to drive vehicles, for the 84-month term.
According to official documentation, the company that for 20 years has overseen providing the service and whose commercial name is Maycom, was the only one that presented its offer at the public ceremony, which totaled Q857 million ($111 million).
The Panama Transit and Land Transportation Authority is once again putting out to tender services to issue driver's licenses, for a term of 10 years.
Due to non compliance with the requirements established in the contest by the three companies that submitted bids,last January the hiring process to provide a service to issue driver's licenses and vehicle ownership cards, as well as the issuance of weights and dimensions cards, was declared void.
In Panama, none of the three participating companies met the requirements established in the $62 million tender to issue driver's licenses.

Four consortia made up of companies from Panama, Colombia, the USA, Mexico and El Salvador have been pre qualified for the project for Vehicle Registration and Driver Licenses.

A total of four consortia were shortlisted for the Project for Operations, Finance and Administration of the Registry of Vehicular Property Nationwide and Implementation in Vehicle Inspection Centers, Supply of Number Plates, Awarding of Drivers Licenses, Modernization of the System for Sanctions for Traffic violations and Modernization of Fine Collections.
Two years after the expiration of the contract awarded to the company Maycom in 2009, the Interior Ministry has announced that it is re-tendering the system for issuing driver's licenses.
There will be no extension of the existing contract, as according to officials at the Ministry of Interior, there is a ruling stating that a new tender must be made. However, Maycom may participate in the new process.
Two businesses responded in Guatemala to the bid for the concession of the system of issuing driver's licenses.
For the eight years of the duration of the contract, the proposals submitted were $58 million by Corporación Inmobiliaria La Luz and $61 million by Maycom.
