From January to March of this year, the countries of the region imported $77 million in diapers and similar items, 2% more than in the same period in 2019, with Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica being the markets that increased their purchases the most.

From January to April 2020, Central American companies imported from Mexico $58 million in diapers and similar items, exceeding in 9% the reported in the same period in 2019.

In Central America, imported diapers of the Huggies, Pampers, Pom Pom and Jueguitos brands account for approximately 65% of the total number of units consumed.

Reviewing the figures of the Costa Rican market, the interactive study states that Huggies, Pampers and Jueguitos are the brands that share more than 80% of the total local market. In the case of Panama, about 65% of sales are monopolized by the brands Pampers, Absormex and Huggies.
From January to September 2019, the countries of the region imported $227 million in diapers and similar items, 6% more than in the same period in 2018, with Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama being the markets that grew the most.

From January to November 2019, purchases of diapers and similar items made by Central American countries from companies in Mexico totaled $141 million, 9% more than reported for the same period in 2018.

Honduras, main buyer
Last year, the main buyer of diapers and similar items in Central America was Honduras, with $60 million, followed by Panama, with $59 million, El Salvador, with $47 million, Guatemala, with $44 million, Nicaragua, with $39 million and Costa Rica, with $37 million.
From January to September 2018, the value of imported diapers and similar items in the region totaled $143 million, and purchases from companies in Mexico grew 11% over the same period in 2017.
