In Panama, the consortium made up of Constructora Urbana S.A. and Toronto Global Holdings Corp. was awarded the contract to design, build and finance the interconnection of the Cinta Costera 3 with the Calzada de Amador.
Two bids were submitted for this tender; whose initial reference value was $49.9 million. The first proposal, which amounted to $54.8 million, was made by the consortium AMADOR, formed by the companies Meco, S.A.

The Ministry of Public Works tenders the rehabilitation works of the road section El Ejido - La Espigadilla - Tres Quebradas - Agua Buena, which is located in the province of Los Santos.

"The project consists of the rehabilitation of 13,066 kilometers, which are divided into 10.91 KM on the road El Ejido-La Espigadilla-Tres Quebradas -Agua Buena, 1.51 KM on Coto Street, 0.43 KM on Lateral Street to the Guadalupe Church and 0.211 KM on the road to the Cemetery.

More than two years after an initiative was presented in Guatemala to create an autonomous entity made up of the government and private investors, which would be in charge of planning and executing road works, the proposal has not yet received the endorsement of the Legislative and the road network is still in poor condition.
During the National Meeting of Entrepreneurs (Enade) 2017 the proposal to create the Superintendence of Road Infrastructure (Sivial) arose, an institution that would be an autonomous entity with the function of planning, tendering and contracting infrastructure works.

Two Bids for $50 Million Road Works

In the public tender held in Panama to design, build and finance the interconnection of the Cinta Costera 3 with the Calzada de Amador, Consorcio Amador and Consorcio Cinta Costera submitted their proposals, which amounted to $55 million and $44 million, respectively.
Consorcio AMADOR, made up of the companies Meco, S.A. and Puentes y Calzadas e Infraestructuras, SLU, Panama Branch, submitted a proposal of Ch$54,817,237, according to an official statement.
Road Works: Works in Panama Relaunched

After the Ministry of Health approved the reactivation of these works, which had been halted since March of this year due to the covid-19 outbreak, 27 road infrastructure projects were restarted nationwide on August 17.
These are five projects located in Panama, four in West Panama, another four in Chiriqui, two in Bocas del Toro, eight in Cocle and one each in the provinces of Los Santos, Herrera, Veraguas and the Ngäbe Bugle region.

$100 Million Road Investment Announced

The expansion of the Highway to the Port of Vacamonte and the construction of the connection of the Cinta Costera 3 to Amador, are two projects that are expected to be tendered in Panama during August 2020.
In order to revive the construction industry, the Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge, reported that next month will be tendered two infrastructure projects whose investment is around $100 million.
Road Works: Budget Reduced in Costa Rica

As a result of the health and economic crisis affecting the country, the government decided to cut the budget assigned to municipalities by $71 million to finance maintenance work on the cantonal road network.
Due to the spread of covid-19, the country is going through a crisis that is reflected in the drop in economic activity, which in April 2020 registered a -9.3% year-on-year variation in its monthly index.
