Van der Laat & Jiménez, H3 Guatemala, Constructora Codico, Bagatrac S.A. and Constructora Meco are some of the main companies that last year won contracts to design and build public works in Central American countries.
An analysis by CentralAmericaData's Trade Intelligence Unit provides interesting data on the companies that in 2019 were favored with contracts to design and build government buildings, roads, bridges, streets, overpasses and other public infrastructure works in Central American countries.
In Costa Rica an order has been given to suspend construction of a supervision contract awarded to the state run power company for a road building project, because it is considered outside of its normal tasks.

The confluence of interests within the Costa Rican state bureaucratic corporation has allowed for institutional nepotism, by means of direct contracts between state agencies, to be thought of as beneficial to the interests of society. It is in this way that impediments are created to private companies being awarded public works contracts.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities in Honduras is putting out to tender the construction, expansion and renovation of 86 kilometers of the CA-5 Highway South.

The Ministry of Public Works has announced that it will launch in 2015 a direct tender for the paving of 18 kilometers of highway in the province of Puntarenas.

MOPT / CONAVI is promoting a direct tender for asphalting 18 kilometers of the Guacimal - Santa Elena de Monteverde road.
The award in partnership with the Colombian Mario Huertas Cotes is for $778 million for the construction of a road which is vital for the coffee industry in the Valle del Rio Cauca.
MECO Construction wins third major highway concession in Colombia
The award is for a highway which is vital for the coffee industry in the Valle del Rio Cauca.
The construction company MECO won, together with the local firm Mario Huertas, the tender for the renovation and construction of 146 kilometers of road in Colombia.

The works to be carried out by the construction company and their Colombian counterpart comprise of section 1, 110 kilometers of road between Cartagena and Barranquilla and section 2, 36.7 kilometers between Malambo and Las Flores, known as Circunvalar de la Prosperidad.
The National Highway Council is calling for expressions of interest for the design of renovation or reconstruction works on National Highway 1, the North American Highway, Barranca-Limonal Section.

Thirteen construction companies have submitted their proposals for repair and construction works in the "Circunvalación" highway, in the capital of Costa Rica.
The companies that submitted proposals to Consejo Nacional de Vialidad (Conavi) are: Ascamón y Tapusa, Sánchez Carvajal, PuentePrefa, Internego, Hernán Solís, MECO, Grupo JCB, Codocsa, Cimolai, Marlin Bridges, Edica, Crecex and Gepesa.
Most road maintenance contracts awarded by the National Roads Authority go to the company Hernán Solís.
Semanariouniversidad.ucr.cr reports that "Of the 22 maintenance contracts given by Conavi around the country, this firm were awarded 13, ie 60% of all projects. In total the company has received maintenance contracts worth over $133.4 million.
With an investment of between $20 and $25 million, the Ministry of Public Works is putting out to tender the widening of the stretch of road going from Pozuelo Factory up to the Funeraria Jardines del Recuerdo.
According to Pedro Castro, chief of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), the tender is ready, they're just waiting on resolving an environmental issue and if there are no setbacks the project will be published next week in the La Gaceta.
