The Ministry of Health of the Republic of El Salvador is putting out to tender the purchase of reactive substances and materials for the National Reference Laboratory.
The suplies required from this Open Tender must be offered

The Social Security Department is inviting bids for the supply disinfectant and calcium deposit removal solution for hemodialysis machines.
According to the specifications, the tender is for: Disinfectant solution and calcium deposits remover for chemical heated disinfection for hemodialysis machines of the brand Fresenius. It must be made exclusively from natural products. PH range 1.7 - 2.0
The United States has zero tolerance for the presence of chemicals like carbendazim, detected in two shipments of orange juice exported from Costa Rica.
The fungicide is used to fight orange fungus. News of the rejection of these two shipments was published on the U.S. government’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website on April 5 and on a bulletin at the Nasdaq stock market.

The size of the agrochemical market is around $30 million, a figure which should decrease based on demands from the buying countries and the prohibition to use 16 different pesticides.
The Institute of Agricultural Research (IDIAP) has recommending farmers to create management programs based on crop monitoring, for effective pest control.
According to an article in Prensa.com , "An increase in temperature in the country has led to a late attack from pests. This makes biological control more preferable, as chemicals alter and desynchronise the relationships between plants-parasites-and pests, which is detrimental, especially for grain. 'For any item to be productive it is necessary to manage it in an integrated way,' said Bruno Zachriss from the IDIAP”
In 2010 the country exported $818 million worth of chemical products for agricultural and industrial use, 12.2% more than in 2009, when it sold $729 million.
Jlio Ruano, head of Agrequima, the association of agricultural chemical producers, explained that most exports go to other Central American countries.
“The increase could be explained by more planted area, and high volumes of rain, which caused increased reseeding”, commented Ruano.
In the first five months of the year, sales abroad totaled $107.9 million compared to $92 million in the same period of 2009.
Herbicides such as glyphosate, 2.4-D and Paraquat are the main products exported, according to Alfredo Ortiz, head of a Guatemalan association of agricultural input suppliers.
