The Colombian company, Conconcreto, has announced an investment of $25 million to build the project.
The new bus terminal will have capacity to serve two million passengers a month, and will be built by Conconcreto and the company Servicios Para Centrales, originally from Guatemala, which will provide the remaining 50% of the investment ($25 million).
The complex will also have space for 300 banks, restaurants and shops.
In order to ease congestion of traffic coming from the East, a bus terminal will be built, which will be able to receive 2 million passengers per month.
Buses coming from that area will not have to go into the city, helping to improve traffic conditions in the capital, especially in rush hours.
Companies managing 18 routes in the metropolitan area have formed a consortium in order to improve profitability and competitiveness.
Reflecting the theme "Unity is strength", transport companies in El Salvador have decided to form an association through which they intend to do things like for example, negotiate with suppliers jointly.
Purchasing spare parts and storing fuel, among other things, are some of the activities that could be managed through the group, which is called Consorcio de Empresas de Transporte (Consortium of Transport Companies).
The Authority for Transit and Land Transport (ATTT) will shortly put out to a tender for the sale of 313 buses known as 'diablos rojos' (red devils) which were removed from service.
The tender has been approved by the board of the ATTT and published in the Gazette.

The Ministry of Works will award construction and management of Metrobus stops for $200 million.
Currently, Equipamientos Urbanos de Panamá (EUPAN) holds a contract with the Municipality of Panama City expiring in 2023.
With regards to the current contract the Minister of the Presidency, Demetrio Papadimitriu, explained that it is null and void because it was awarded by the Mayor´s office and current legislation stipulates that the power to award such contracts lies with the Ministry of Public Works (MOP ), reported Pa-digital.com.pa.
The draft plan incorporates inter-sector buses (known as interlining) and promotion of the metropolitan electric train.
The planned investment in the metropolitan electric train project (TREM) would be about $ 1,100 million over the first eight years.

80 additional units will cover routes to Kennedy, Paraíso, Pinares, Llano Largo and Canalitos.

Chilean Consortium Sonda SA won the tender to manage the new mass transit system.
The concession was granted to the firm for a period of ten years.
"Sonda is responsible for recharging the cards for access to Metro Bus as set out in the terms and conditions of the bid, once the card system becomes operational one thousand points of sale will be available, of which 10% will be run 24 hours a day," reported the article in Prensa.com.
The Transport Ministry announced the construction of a transportation system with articulated buses with preferential lanes.
This model, known as BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), consists in the development of exclusive lanes for high capacity modern buses and has been implemented in countries such as Guatemala, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.
The plan includes a network of 6 main routes, the first of which will run for 5.3 kilometers from Soyapango Integration Terminal to the transfer station in Plaza Gerardo Barrios, in front of the Cathedral.
Sonda, Confya, Panama Card and Metro Recaudo submitted bids to manage the Metro Bus transportation system.
The proposals ranged between $ 118 and $ 229 million.

The arrival of the 43 buses from Colombia, add to the first 11 units which entered the country a week ago.
These 54 buses form the first group of 120 units required to start operations in the South Corridor, planned for late December.
In the next 10 days or so, said Minister of the Presidency, Jimmy Papadimitriu, the new system will begin operating in the South Corridor and in January of next year, it will change the entire public transport fleet which uses the Northern Corridor.
