The Ministry of Economy certified the Association of Independent Brewers of Guatemala, which brings together eight brands of artisanal beers in the country.
The brands that make up this new association are Antigua Cerveza, Ave Indiana Brewing, Cervecería El Güin, Cerveza Entremares, Cervecería Pantera, Cervecería San Roque, Sapiens Cerveza and Xamán.
The Guatemalan Exports Association is organizing a course to show in detail how to meet the requirements for exporting under the terms of the FTA.
In order to find out in detail the procedures for successfully gaining a certificate of origin from major FTAs and avoid problems in customs operations, the School of Foreign Trade at AGEXPORT, will hold on March 31, 2014 a course entitled: "Certificates of Origin under the main commercial treaties signed by Guatemala Export / Import".

A new wind farm and the expansion of the International Airport of El Salvador, are the first two projects to be conducted under this system.

Private sector operators see in the Law of Public-Private Partnerships serious deficiencies which would prevent the bill from obtaining the desired results.
"The law, as it has been approved, will not achieve the expected results, we believe that it is not a good law, it has serious deficiencies that will make it very difficult to obtain the expected results," said Javier Castro, director of Department of Legal Studies (DEL) of the Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Development (FUSADES).
Salvadoran Congress has passed a law that will allow public institutions to form partnerships with private companies for infrastructure and public services projects.

In order to establish the regulatory framework for the development of projects for the provision of infrastructure and public services of general interest effectively and efficiently, the Legislative Assembly in Plenary approved with 84 votes in favor, the "Special Law on Public Private Partnerships"(PPP).
Salvadoran Congress has stipulated that the minimum investment amount for a private public partnership should be 10 million dollars.

The Special Committee on Finance and Budget, began review on Monday of the Bill on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), which is to establish the regulatory framework for the development of projects for the provision of infrastructure and public services of general interest, in an effective and efficient format.
After a first attempt to consolidate a core of companies engaged in providing medical services to foreigners, efforts are now being made to create an association for promoting medical tourism.
The country is looking to position itself within the medical tourism industry globally, growing at an accelerated rate of 30% annually.
In order to give a boost to medical tourism, a group of Salvadorans are promoting the creation of an association to promote health and to focus on niches that the country can exploit. "The partnership will look out for the interests of the sector, monitoring and ensuring that the people working in it do it well," said Mario Cruz, medical director of Equitec.
Employers in El Salvador have announced the creation of Adepesca, an entity that unites the fishery subsectors in El Salvador.
"The partnership stems from the relationships that we who work in this sector have, we talked about the importance of the productive chain being united", said the president of the new association, Miguel Peñalva.

As a step towards modernizing the electrical system and networking in the country, the Nicaraguan National Assembly has recently approved an amendment to Law 583, Law Creating the National Electricity Transmission Company (Enatrel).
In light of a decline in this activity, businesses have come together to form the Shrimp Producers Association of El Salvador in order to obtain economic and financial support.
The Shrimp Producers Association of El Salvador was founded on Monday March 19th, backed by the National Foundation for Development (Funde in Spanish).
The objectives of the new organization are to foster economic and direct financial support through NGOs, government institutions and international cooperation in order to support the groups that make up the organization, and thereby help to improve their productive capacity.
