As of October of this year, Spirit Airlines will start flying four times a week between Juan Santamaría International Airport and Orlando International Airport in the United States.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute announced that flights will now be made four times a week, and as of November 8, the frequency will be daily.
Starting from December, Sunwing will be operating two weekly flights between the Guanacaste airport in Costa Rica and Vancouver, Canada.
The airline will run the flights from December 23 until March 31, with a frequency of 2 weekly flights and with Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, with a capacity for 189 passengers.
A statement issued by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute details that the itinerary of the flight will be as follows:
Starting from November, Aeromexico will run two weekly flights between Guanacaste airport in Costa Rica and the one in Mexico City.
The airline will start operations from November 10 and continue until April 21 (high season of visits from Mexico), with a frequency of 2 weekly flights and with Embraer 190 aircraft, with capacity for 99 passengers.
Transporte Aéreos Guatemaltecos has started processing permits to fly to Costa Rica, and according to the authorities, it could take up to six months to complete the process and be able to operate.
Without providing details of the types of routes that the airline Transportes Aéreos Guatemaltecos (TAG) intends to operate, Costa Rican authorities stated that the approval process is in phase 2.
The General Directorate of Civil Aviation has once again suspended, this time indefinitely, the operating permit for the company Nature Air.
Following the accident that occured in Guanacaste in December 2017, in January the General Directorate of Civil Aviation decided to temporarily suspend flights, arguing that due to problems in the company's administrative structure, they could not guarantee the safety of their operations.Although 15 days later they lifted the suspension and gave authorization for it to resume operations, the company failed to do so.
Avianca has announced that as of November 16 this year, five frequencies per week will start operating between El Salvador and the city of Germany.
The new route will operate with a frequency of five times per week, starting on November 16 of this year. From El Salvador to Munich, flights will be available on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. From Munich to El Salvador the will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation has lifted the temporary suspension of operations of the Costa Rican airline, which has not been able to fly since January 11.
According to the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC),"... the company has now hired the required personnel and made changes in their schedules and routes.Enio Cubillo, executive director of Civil Aviation, did not give details about this restructuring, as he thinks that it should be Nature Air who provides information about the adjustments."
Starting from April 2018, the airline Evelop, part of the Barceló group, plans to start operating a weekly air frequency between Lisbon and the Juan Santamaría international airport.

The Directorate of Civil Aviation has suspended flights by Nature Air, arguing that due to problems in the administrative structure of the company, it can not guarantee the safety of its operations.

Volaris Costa Rica has announced that as of March 2018, flights will start operating between San Jose and the cities of Los Angeles, New York and Washington.
The airline explained that it will operate a San Jose-Los Angeles flight on Thursdays and Sundays and a Los Angeles-San Jose flight on Mondays and Fridays, both routes via El Salvador.There will also be flights connecting these two cities via Guatemala, but they will be Saturdays and Sundays.
The Bogota-based airline has announced that it will continue to negotiate a strategic and commercial alliance with United Airlines and expects to finalize an agreement to be announced at the end of the year.

Nature Air has invested $10 million in the purchase of five new aircraft for its operations in the country, and announced that it will start making daily flights to David, Panama.
Nacion.com reports that "...The new fleet consists of three Caravan aircraft, with capacity for 12 passengers, and two twin-engine Twin Otter aircraft, which can carry up to 19 people each."
With the arrival of more flights to the two main airports in Costa Rica, complementary businesses such as car rental and air catering services are benefitting.
In order to meet the increased demand generated by an increase in the arrival of flights and new airlines coming to the airports Daniel Oduber, in Liberia, and Juan Santamaría, in Alajuela, companies that provide complementary services are making new investments to expand their production capacity and improve the quality of their services.For example, several rent-a-car companies have invested in improving andexpanding their vehicle fleet.
