Avianca has announced that from June it will be offering a direct flight four times a week between San Jose and Mexico City, and a daily direct flight to San Pedro Sula.
The airline also announced that it will add a third daily flight between Costa Rica and Guatemala, starting from the same date.
The new flight from San Jose to San Pedro Sula will depart from Juan Santamaría Airport at 12:30, arriving at 14:52.The return trip from San Pedro Sula will leave at 16:15, landing in Costa Rica at 18:37.
Volaris has announced a new daily flight between San Jose and San Salvador, while the airline Wingo has canceled its flight from San Jose to Guatemala due to "market behavior".
The new air route announced by Volaris will operate every day of the week starting from February 20.The flight from San Jose, Costa Rica to San Salvador is added to the one the airline already operates between San Jose and Guatemala City.
The Turkish airline will fly on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from Istanbul to Bogota, and from there to Panama, and from Panama direct to Istanbul.
Referring to Wednesday, May 4, an article on Critica.com.pa reported that this Wednesday "... the national airline of Turkey based in Istanbul, today inaugurated a route between Istanbul and Panama, making the Central American country its 14th destination within its expansion project in America.
VECA Airlines will start operations in the Augusto Cesar Sandino International Airport on April 27, with flights to San Salvador and San Jose.
After the announcement by Nicaraguan tourism authorities, the low-cost airline VECA Airlines confirmed on its website that it will start flights from Managua to San Salvador (direct flight) and San Jose (one stop) from April 27.
Copa Airlines has announced two weekly flights between Tocumen and the International Airport Capitan FAP Jose A. Quiñones in Chiclayo, Peru, from June 28.

Copa Airlines {NYSE: CPA} a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, SA, and member of the global airline network Star Alliance, announced its new route between the historic city of Chiclayo and Panama City, from next June 28 2016, with two weekly frequencies. With this destination, the airline will increase the connectivity of northern Peru with the rest of the Americas.
Four months after the scheduled date, the German airline Lufthansa has made the first of five flights a week which it will operate from the airport of Tocumen.

Lufthansa commenced its new non-stop service between Frankfurt and Panama City today. Flight LH 484 departed from Frankfurt (FRA) at 10:15 local time, and is scheduled to arrive at the Aeropuerto Internacional de Tocumen in Panama City (PTY) at 16:40 local time this afternoon. Eastbound flight LH 485 will leave Panama City at 18:45 local time this evening, and is due to land in Frankfurt at 11:35 local time tomorrow (3 March). Lufthansa will be operating a five-times-weekly service on the new route all year round.
Emirates airline has no new date for the intercontinental flight, but said it could be in late 2016 or early 2017.
Although Emirates airline had announced that the 17 hour and 35 minute Panama-Dubai flight would be inaugurated on 31 March, the company has once again postponed the date "until late 2016 or early 2017 as soon as conditions permit."
As of May 28, 2015 Spirit Airlines will fly three times a week from Houston to Managua and San Pedro Sula, and San Jose and San Salvador four times a week.

MIRAMAR, Florida - Spirit Airlines has announced it will expand its nonstop service to ten new destinations starting from the spring of 2015.
The new locations include cities within the country, including Tampa, Baltimore / Washington, DC and Oakland / San Francisco Bay to seven destinations in Latin America, including Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua (international routes are subject to foreign government approval ).
From July Delta Airlines will fly once a day nonstop from Los Angeles to the capital of El Salvador.
The U.S. carrier Delta Airlines will begin operating a new route between San Salvador and Los Angeles on July 2 this year.
A press release issued by the airline indicates that "the route is pending approval by the government and will be operated using a Boeing 737-800 with 160 seats, including 16 Business Class seats, 18 seats in Economy Comfort and 126 seats in Economy. "
The low-cost airline VivaColombia is looking at opening up routes to Central American countries.
During the inauguration of Routes Americas which was held in El Salvador, the head of tourism in the country, Jose Napoleon Duarte said they have begun talks with the low-cost airline VivaColombia, which has shown interest in opening routes to countries in Central America.
El Salvador's Vuelos Económicos Centroamericanos and Costa Rica's Ticos Air and Ticas Airlines are in various stages of preparation and registration to offer flights in the region.
Vuelos Económicos Centroamericanos (CASI) reported that it has leased two Airbus aircraft and will invest nearly $100 million in order to start operations in March 2014. The company is interested in creating a market in the low-cost segment and not competing with airlines such as Avianca and Copa, said Edgar Hasbun, CEO of the company.
Starting next December the airline will start flights between Tampa International Airport, Florida, and Tocumen in Panama.
The new route will link passengers from Tampa with Central American countries and those in South America, through Copa's hub in Panama.
No details have been released about the flight, to verify if Copa Airlines will use a Boeing 737 aircraft. The duration of the flight will be approximately two and a half hours.
