Transporte Aéreos Guatemaltecos has started processing permits to fly to Costa Rica, and according to the authorities, it could take up to six months to complete the process and be able to operate.
Without providing details of the types of routes that the airline Transportes Aéreos Guatemaltecos (TAG) intends to operate, Costa Rican authorities stated that the approval process is in phase 2.
Operations at three air terminals, including La Aurora, are being affected by trade union reprisals against dismissal of air traffic controllers.
Jackeline Lopez, in charge of communication of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) said that a cut of $2 million in the budget of the institution led to the dismissal of 25 of 60 air traffic controllers and a cut of 23% in salaries for the rest of the staff.
The Honduran company CM Airlines has announced that it will fly between the airports of Ilopango and Tegucigalpa starting from Jan. 11 this year.
Flights from Tegucigalpa will leave at 9:20 am Monday through Thursday and 17:15 on Fridays. From El Salvador they will leave at 8:00 am Monday through Thursday and 14:30 on Fridays.
The low-cost airline Transportes Aereos Guatemaltecos has started operating a daily frequency between La Aurora airport and Ilopango Airport in San Salvador.
Transportes Aereos Guatemaltecos (TAG) flies Monday through Friday, leaving Guatemala at 7:00 am and arriving in San Salvador at 7:45 am, while the departure flight from Ilopango is at 6:45 pm arriving at 7:25 pm at La Aurora Airport.
The low-cost airline Transportes Aereos Guatemaltecos plans to offer a daily flight from Ilopango airport in Guatemala City.
The airline Transportes Aéreos Guatemaltecos will start operations on March 20, offering a daily flight from Ilopango airport east of San Salvador, to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala. The flight between the two cities will take approximately 30 minutes.
As of November 11 Transportes Aéreos Guatemaltecos will be offering weekday flights bound for Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and Belize.
In order to accomplish this Guatemalan Air Transport (TAG) has teamed up with the airlines CM from Honduras and Tropic Air from Belize. Jonathan Layton, president of TAG, said that "passengers will be able to go and return on the same day with these direct flights" which will arrive in the morning and return in the afternoon.
