Tourism entrepreneurs have suggested setting up a border post in El Naranjo in order to encourage the arrival of international tourists coming from Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
The announcement of the possible construction of a coastal highway in the Pacific, represents an opportunity for entrepreneurs in the tourism sectorto further enhance the development of tourism in the area and also provide a route for foreign tourists arriving at the Liberia airport in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
From June 19 to 23 companies working in convention tourism will be meeting in Antigua with international buyers and suppliers in order to develop business opportunities.

Guatemala January 26, 2017.The Guatemalan Tourism Institute, INGUAT together with the Convention Bureau of Guatemala, announced that the City of Antigua Guatemala will host the Latin America Meetings and Incentives Travel Exchange, Lamite, from June 19 to 23.

The average daily expenditure per capita rose by 8.5% compared to the previous quarter, led mainly by increased spending by visitors from Europe.

In the third quarter of 2016 in terms of inbound tourism, the average daily expenditure per capita recorded a rise of 8.5 percent compared with the previous quarter, mainly driven by increased spending by visitors from Europe (36.1%).The interannual variation of average expenditure was 18.2 percent.In contrast, the average length of stay recorded a fall of 7.5 percent compared with the previous quarter, impacted by less stays by tourists from Europe (-34.3%) and South America (-15.7%).The annual rate of change of the average length of stay was -7.9 percent.
Projections are that 2016 will close with a growth of 6% compared to 2015 in terms of the number of tourists visiting the country.
In 2015 the country received 1.4 million tourists, and for 2016, the National Chamber of Tourism forecasts growth of 6%, and an increase in the income generated by the activity, which in 2015 totaled $528 million.

From October 19 to 21 2016 professionals from the tourism sector in Costa Rica and other countries will be gathering together in San Jose.
The event is being organized by the Costa Rican Association of Tourism Professionals (Acoprot) and will be held at the Aurola Holiday Inn Hotel, San Jose.It will feature the participation of international exhibitors who will speak on Sustainable Tourism Intelligence and employment in the tourism sector, among other things.
The average amount spent per day by tourists during the second quarter was $44.9, just 2.4% more than in the same period in 2015.

The average stay of inbound tourism was 9.7 days in the second quarter, reflecting a variation of 13.8 percent year on year and -4.3 percent compared to the previous quarter.The average per capita daily spending by these visitors was $44.9, mainly influenced by expenditure on the part of tourists from North America and Other Regions.This represented a variation of 2.4 percent year on year and 4.4 percent from the previous quarter.
Three bills are being prepared to encourage construction of marinas and condominiums for tourism, and the promotion of sport fishing.
The initiative to reform the Law on Investments in Condominiums is being prepared by the union of construction, tourism and urbanization, and aims to "open the regime of condominiums up to tourism investment"in order to continue forming the basis of infrastructure necessary for the region to consolidate itself as tourism destination.
