Given that the table area of restaurants and tourist sites are closed to the public in Panama due to the outbreak of covid-19, the business sector is asking the authorities to reconsider their reopening.
After being closed for more than seven months, starting October 8, about 4,500 establishments that are identified as bars or casinos in the country will be able to reopen to the public.
The bars that reopen will only be able to serve 50% of their capacity and the distance between the backs of the chairs at each table must be at least 1.8 meters.
In 2015 60 new construction companies and 1450 workers registered with the social security department, and in the sector of hotels and restaurants, 40 new companies and 437 workers registered.
Construction, tourism and trade are the three sectors that are driving economic activity and growth of formal employment in the department of Rivas.
A hotel in Estelí is part of the projects that will benefit from the tourism incentives approved by the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism so far this year.

During the first quarter of 2012 revenues of restaurants and hotels grew by 11.3% compared to the same period last year.
Revenues from restaurants and hotels were $255 million in the first three months of the year, $25.8 million more than in the same period in 2011, according to the Controller General of the Republic.

The Community of Andalucía, Spain, will invest in a sanitation project and in the construction of an food court.
The sewage treatment project is scheduled to begin in February, and once it is done, they will start building a jetty on the beach where the restaurants will be located.
Wilman Rivas, mayor of the area, commented that Andalusian authorities have already approved the investment, and are now touring the area, assessing where to invest.
In 2009, the arrival of international tourists dropped 9%, while domestic ones 15%. 2010 should be better.
The recovery will only be felt in the second half of the year, even though since November 2009 most statistics are showing a trend shift from negative to positive.
