Through a system that monitors real-time changes in consumer interests and preferences in Central American countries, developed by CentralAmericaData's Trade Intelligence Unit, it is possible to project short and long-term demand trends for the different sectors and markets operating in the region.
In Central America, imported diapers of the Huggies, Pampers, Pom Pom and Jueguitos brands account for approximately 65% of the total number of units consumed.

Reviewing the figures of the Costa Rican market, the interactive study states that Huggies, Pampers and Jueguitos are the brands that share more than 80% of the total local market. In the case of Panama, about 65% of sales are monopolized by the brands Pampers, Absormex and Huggies.

In Guatemala 14% of the population shows interest in hair care products, and about 70% of them are between 15 and 30 years old, and have a high level of purchasing power.
An analysis of consumer interests and preferences in Guatemala, prepared by CentralAmericaData's Trade Intelligence Unit, provides interesting results on the characteristics and people who express interest in beauty and personal care products.
In the first nine months of 2019, companies in the region imported $374 million in beauty and personal care items, 5% more than reported for the same period in 2018.

Honduras, main buyer
Last year, the main buyer of diapers and similar items in Central America was Honduras, with $60 million, followed by Panama, with $59 million, El Salvador, with $47 million, Guatemala, with $44 million, Nicaragua, with $39 million and Costa Rica, with $37 million.
From January to September 2018, the value of imported diapers and similar items in the region totaled $143 million, and purchases from companies in Mexico grew 11% over the same period in 2017.
