Authorities plan a system for the state to buy goods and services that meet internationally recognized environmental standards.

Recently the National Environmental Authority (ANAM) and the Public Procurement Directorate (CMPD) and the Center for Industrial Technology and Information Management (CEGESTI) of Costa Rica, held a meeting to publicize an initiative to implement in the future the Sustainable Public Procurement system (CPS), in Panama.
During the event, which will take place 1 and 2 October in Panama, there will be discussion of the benefits associated with renewable energy projects in the region.

The Energy and Environment Partnership with Central America (EEP) will hold the XXII Regional Sustainable Energy Forum on 1 and 2 October in Panama.

The closure order has been overturned by senior management at the National Environmental Authority of Panama.
The asphalt plant belonging to the company Maribel S. A. located on the banks of the river Caimito in El Limon, La Chorrera, received orders to cease operations signed by the Regional Administrator of the National Environmental Authority (ANAM) in western Panama, Armando Peralta, having considered that it "did not meet the requirement of the institution, such as having an environmental impact study and a plan for environmental remediation and management. "
Because of a lack of environmental impact studies and plans for adaptability and environmental suitability, authorities have ordered the closure of the asphalt processing plant property of Maribel SA.
Elsiglo.com reports that "Complaints made by families living in the surrounding neighborhoods led to the closure order for the asphalt processing plant that operates within the premises of the industrial complex located on the banks of the river Caimito, in Limon de La Chorrera, said Armando Peralta, regional director of the National Environmental Authority (ANAM) in Western Panama. "
From 10 to 11 October the fifth International Symposium on Energy will be held, organized by the Union of Industrialists of Panama (SIP in Spanish) and the National Energy Secretariat.
The International Symposium on Energy is being held in order to find viable solutions with low environmental impact to energy problems and encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences in a national and international forum for discussion and negotiation.
The cuts foreseen in fiscal year 2013 will affect the Ministry of Labour, the Public Registry, Customs Authorities, Government Innovation and Small and Medium Enterprises.

The state-owned Electricity Generating Company will set up 11,800 solar panels in the Sarigua National Park with which it plans to generate 2.4 megawatts.
