The binational working table between El Salvador and Guatemala, responsible for Transport and Infrastructure matters, agreed to build a four-lane bridge at the border between Ciudad Pedro de Alvarado, Guatemala, and La Hachadura, El Salvador, with the aim of improving commercial traffic between the two countries.
The Ministry of Public Works in El Salvador has proposed Congress the construction of three road projects using Mexico's Yucatan Fund.

Viceminister Nelson Garcia said that this stage will consist of 3.3 kilometers of streets with dedicated lanes for articulated buses.
The stretch will run from Soyapango terminal to Avenida Norte 33, and will have three stops.
The Salvadoran Congress has authorized loan applications of up to $30 million for the Rural Connectivity Programme in the North and East of the country.

The Ministry of Works has announced a master plan to improve roads in the city of La Union in 2012 .
With an investment of $ 5 million the works include the repair and construction of the Coast to El Tamarindo and the construction of a new boulevard between the port and the city of La Union.

After two failed tender processes, El Salvador's Minsitry for Public Works (MOP in Spanish) has received four bids to construct the new highway.
The new highway will connect the country's capital San Salvador with Santa Tecla 9.9 kilometers (6.5 miles) away.
According to a MOP press release, of ten companies that were invited to tender, four have expressed an interest in building the second stretch of the Bulevar Diego de Holguín road, which will see the project completed.
President Mauricio Funes has already allocated $22 million for the reconstruction of road infrastructure damaged by the storms that have recently affected the country.

The Salvadoran Ministry of Public Works has declared the tender void due to lack of bidders
A press release from the Ministry of Public Works states that it “is prepared to proceed promptly to a private bidding process for the Diego de Holguín Boulevard Section II construction project, after declaring the bidding process void, since none of the 22 companies purchased the tender”
The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has put out to tender the construction and renovation of four bridges.
On June 16, the MOP tendered the renovation of three major bridges. Two of the bridges are at El Tule and Colima, 45.5 and 47.5 kilometers from the Troncal del Norte, San Salvador, in which $3.5 million will be invested.
On the same day, the MOP publicly invited companies interested in works to be carried out on Anguiatú Bridge, at the border area of the same name. Basically, the work consists of reinforcing the beams in order to improve the strength of the structure and adapt it to international standards. The institution plans to invest just over $300,000.
A feasibility study to build a bypass in San Miguel will be performed using a grant from the International Cooperation Agency of Japan
The Ministry of Public Works is looking to reduce the heavy traffic congestion in San Miguel.
According to an article in LaPrensagrafica.com: "The bypass would be between 18 and 20 kms long, and starts from the Las Delicias, passing through the Canton Hato Nuevo, and ends in the Quelepa area.
To ensure the project is completed, the Ministry of Works will hire two different companies to finish the project.
Two companies will be hired to work on two sections of the remaining 3.7 km.
Gerson Martinez, head of the Ministry of Public Works, stated "this decision brings additional benefits such as a greater participation of companies and the fact two construction companies will be working on the project simultaneously.
