A tender has been launched in Panama for the supply, transportation and delivery of materials and equipment for the design and installation of an electrical distribution line, located in Ngäbe Bugle.

"Supply, transportation and delivery of materials and equipment for the design and installation of electrical distribution line, fences, electrical connections, internal installations and streetlights for the communities of Cerro Sombrero to Cerro Algodón and the community of Juli to Hato Pilon located in Ngäbe Bugle. "
The Ministry of the Presidency of Panama is putting out to tender the design and supply of materials and equipment for an electrical distribution line for different communities in the province of Veraguas.
Panama Government Purchase 2016-0-03-0-09-LV-020 757:
"The contractor or contractors will be required to carry out design work, supply, transportation, delivery and installation of materials and equipment for the electrical distribution line, fences, electrical connections, internal installations and public lighting for different communities in the Veraguas province.
The Government is evaluating offers by El Salvador and Guatemala for the supply of 80 MW needed to meet local demand.
The option of importing power from neighboring countries is conditional on the capacity constraints in power transmission lines.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Frank De Lima said "together with Empresa de Generación Eléctrica (EGESA) an analysis is being made of increasing purchases of power from Central American countries such as El Salvador and Guatemala, among others."
The private sector has proposed that free competition in the generation market be maintained and it not be regulated and that there be a permanent plan to promote energy savings.

The Energy Agency Committee, comprising of representatives from the private sector, handed over to the Presidency Minister, Roberto Henriquez, a proposal to make the energy market in Panama more dynamic and economical.
Some public institutions will cut back working hours to 1.30 pm, in order to lower electricity consumption.
