Metro de Panamá is putting out to tender a supply of materials and labor for installation of lateral closings in different stations of the Metro Line 1.
Panama Government Purchase 2016-2-80-0-08-LP-000476:
“The work to be done for the project involves the supply of labor, materials, equipment and tools for the implementation of an enclosure to provide rain protection at the elevated stations of San Isidro, Los Andes and San Miguelito on Line 1 of the Panama Metro.
In granting approval of the funding proposal put forward by the consortium Odebrecht / FCC for Metro Line 2, the Panamanian government has cleared any doubts about the participation of the Brazilian company.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Dulcidio De La Guardia, told Prensa.com that "... "We have been in talks with banks related to the project and the information we have, which is unofficial, is that the consortium has a valid financial bid and (the banks) have confirmed with us their intention to continue with the project.'"
Increasing demand has led to a requirement to purchase 70 new carriages and carry out adaptation work on the premises of the line and yards of Line 1 of the Panama Metro.
From a statement issued by presidency of Panama:
Line 1 transports 215,000 passengers a day.
70 new carriages to be purchased.
In light of the growing increase in the number of passengers using the Metro Line 1 of Panama, which already exceed 215,000 per day, the Cabinet has authorized the Metro de Panama, SA, to contract by extraordinary procedure, to purchase from Grupo Empresas Línea 1 the supply of 70 carriages which are fully compatible with existing railway wagons, along with adjustments to the premises of the lines and yards of Line 1 in the amount of B / 157 million.
It is significant the absence of companies from countries where bribery abroad is criminalized in tenders for large scale government works in Panama.
