The Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewerage tenders the construction of the building for the National Water Laboratory.

"The Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewerage, plans to develop the project of the Construction of the new Building of the National Water Laboratory in its property located in San Rafael de la Union de Cartago.
Tecnoquímicas, Colombia's largest pharmaceutical company, announced the $30 million purchase of El Salvador's Teramed Laboratories.
Emilio Sardi, vicepresident of Tecnoquímicas, announced the purchase of the Salvadoran laboratory as part of their expansion plan through Central America. They intend to triplicate their sales in the next five years.
Sardi told newspaper "El Periódico": "The idea is to enter the smallest markets first, and then move to the larger countries, but it is a slow process, that depends on the circumstances of each country".
The lab is the largest and most modern in Central America for in vitro propagation of coffee by somatic embryogenesis.
It is located in Santa Barbara, Honduras and required an investment of $1 million. It was constructed with fund contributions from the Millennium Account-Honduras and the Honduran Coffee Institute.
Hondudiario.com reported statements from the technical manager of the Honduran Institute of Coffee (IHCAFE), Mario Ordoñez: "This laboratory is a technological alternative for coffee producers in Honduras and Central America because we're working on a new phase in plant reproduction, a new methodology called somatic embryogenesis, which is unlike conventional seed methodology."
