On 20 and 21 May, representatives from more than 20 countries in America will discuss in El Salvador the features of this tool and its influence on foreign trade.

El Salvador has been selected as the site to host the Third Meeting of Single Foreign Trade Windows, an event that is sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank and will be attended by representatives from 27 countries of Latin.

Business leaders from American countries have agreed to establish a business representation entity ahead of the Summit of Heads of State of the hemisphere.

The preliminary results have been released from a feasibility study on the development of a Short Sea Shipping service in Mesoamerica.

An IDB study indicates that delays in the approval of the law on public-private partnerships is jeopardizing private investment.
According to a study by the Economist Intelligence Unit, a project funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), while El Salvador has made progress in preparations for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), delays in the approval of a regulatory framework are jeopardizing private investment.

The Inter-American Development Bank will provide $153 million to a new capital investment platform for Latin America and the Caribbean, in partnership with the Export-Import Bank of China.

The Government has announced the use of a quota from the loans held with international organizations for the development of the coastal-marine area.
The technical secretary of the Presidency, Alexander Segovia, indicated that the funds will be used to support the development of projects of production and social infrastructure in the coastal zone.
"What we've discussed with the IDB, and we're what we will discuss with the World Bank, is that in the latter stage of the Government, almost a year and a half, is to link the additional element (loan) to the development of the coastal zone.
Costa Rica will host the sixth China - Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Business Summit, to be held in October 2013.
The summit organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) seeks to strengthen trade relations between the two regions.

According to the IDB, the percentage of the population living in substandard homes or those who do not have adequate housing, reaches 78% in Nicaragua, 67% in Guatemala, 58% in El Salvador, 57% in Honduras, 39% in Panama and 18% in Costa Rica.
An IDB study indicates that over two thirds of households in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Bolivia and Peru live in poor housing. Brazil and Mexico are the countries which have the largest deficits.
