Following the trend of the last five months, in March the consumer price index fell by 0.91%, putting annual inflation at -1.09%, and inflation accumulated so far this year at -0.26%.
The groups with the greatest contribution to the CPI in March 2016 were: Transport and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages.
In March 2016, of the 315 goods and services included in the consumer basket, 47% had prices reductions, 44% increased in price and 9% had no change.
In February, the consumer price index recorded a decrease of 0.02%, putting annual inflation at -0.03%, and inflation accumulated so far this year at 0.65%.
The groups with the greatest contribution to the CPI in February 2016 were foods and non-alcoholic beverages and education.

In February 2016, of the 315 goods and services included in the consumer basket, 47% increased price, price 43% decreased and 10% showed no change.
Despite the consumer price index recording a monthly variation of 0.68%, it was not enough to prevent inflation remaining in negative territory.
The groups which made the greatest contribution to the CPI in January 2016 were: Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Rent and housing services, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Census.
In November, the consumer price index recorded a decrease of 0.01%, placing the annual inflation at -1.20% and inflation accumulated so far this year at -0.99%.
The groups with the greatest contribution to the change in the consumer price index (CPI) in November 2015 are Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Transport, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Census.
Annual inflation accumulated in March reached 3.26%, driven by increases in articles for the home and domestic services, transportation and entertainment.

Between January and December 2013, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) registered a variation of 3.68 %. The consumer goods groups that influenced the cumulative change the most were communications, food and beverages, education and residential properties.
In the last twelve months, prices rose by 3.44%, the lowest variation since November 2009.

In November, consumer groups which had the greatest influence on the monthly variation of the General Index were:
- Food and non-alcoholic beverages, mainly due to the increase in the prices of tomato and potatoes, among other things.
The cumulative variation of the Index for the ten months of the year is 2.98%, less than the variation in the same period of the previous year which was 3.42%.

October 2013
The National Institute of Statistics and Census reports the main results of the Consumer Price Index for the month of October 2013.
The cumulative variation of the first five months of 2013 is 3.22%, 2.50% higher than that of 2012.
A statement from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) reads:
The National Institute of Statistics and Census reports on the main results of the Consumer Price Index for the month of April 2013.
The general level of the Consumer Price Index in May is 161.728, which is a variation of 0.02% compared with the index for the month of April (with a value of 161.703).
The increase in the month of October was 0.47%, which represents the largest monthly increase since May, the month which saw a 0.55%. rise.
According to a report released by the INEC, the five goods and services with the greatest contribution to the increase, two are regulated (water and transportation service) and two are agricultural products, which are closely related to climate conditions that affect supply (tomato and potato), and the fifth is coffee. Negotiated contracts for coffee in international markets have experienced a rise of more than 40% this year. Concerns about bad weather and outbreaks in major suppliers such as Vietnam and Colombia have influenced this increase.
