The Commercial Office of Central America CATO has a website where Central American companies can promote their products to export to the Asian island.
With the aim of promoting Central American SMEs and boosting Taiwanese investment, the Commercial Office of Central America together with the Embassy of Honduras in Taiwan has inaugurated the website www.cato.com.tw , which allows entrepreneurs in the region to showcase their products in the Taiwanese market.
Nicaraguan importers could receive funding for up to 85% of the value of their purchase of products from Taiwan.
The information was released by Enrique Zamora, corporate director of BanCentro Lafise, the entity selected by the Embassy of the Asian nation in Nicaragua to manage a revolving credit facility with the Export-Import Bank, Eximbank.
"There is no specific amount, it is an open credit line.
Both governments have agreed to build a baseball stadium for 30,000 spectators with an investment of $30 million from Taiwan plus another $5 million from Nicaragua.
"This week the honourable Ambassador of China Taiwan in Nicaragua, Ingrid Hsing and me will be signing the draft, which sets out additional conditions to the memorandum of understanding signed between the Foreign Minister of Nicaragua and the Taiwanese Chancellor," said Marlos Torres, director of the Nicaraguan Institute of Sports (IND).
Since the entry into force of the FTA with China, exports reported an increase of 547%.
Taiwan's ambassador in Nicaragua, Ingrid Hsing, said exports in 2006 totaled $5.7 million, but by the end of 2011 they had increased to $38.9 million.
In the current year, beef exports alone have generated revenues of $12.6 million.

The embassy of China will organize a trade fair in late July.
Over twenty companies from Taiwan will participate in the “Republic of China Taiwan Centennial Fair”, where they will showcase their products and share their successful experiences in international trade.
The fair will also involve Nicaraguan organizations, such as investment promotion agency ProNicaragua, and other entities linked to the export sector and trade with Asia.
