With $27 million the World Bank will be financing from August the construction of the 26 kilometers of the road between Bluefields and San Francisco in the municipality of Nueva Guinea.
The road will be built with reinforced concrete within a period of two years and the Costa Rican company MECO SA will be running the project.
Omar Jimenez, representative of MECO, told Elnuevodiario.com.ni that they have "..." a strategy for working in the area considering it rains nine or ten months a year, but we have experience in such work and expect to carry it out within the stipulated time. '"
The National Highway Council is calling for expressions of interest for the design of renovation or reconstruction works on National Highway 1, the North American Highway, Barranca-Limonal Section.

Contracts for $922 million were awarded to five companies for expanding and renovating 185 kilometers of the Inter American Highway.
The value of the works has exceeded the estimate made by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of $750 million. The construction company Norberto Odebrecht was awarded 71.24 kilometers from Santiago- Vigui. Its financial proposal was $339.5 million and the MOP's reference price was $352.8 million.
Thirteen construction companies have submitted their proposals for repair and construction works in the "Circunvalación" highway, in the capital of Costa Rica.
The companies that submitted proposals to Consejo Nacional de Vialidad (Conavi) are: Ascamón y Tapusa, Sánchez Carvajal, PuentePrefa, Internego, Hernán Solís, MECO, Grupo JCB, Codocsa, Cimolai, Marlin Bridges, Edica, Crecex and Gepesa.
Most road maintenance contracts awarded by the National Roads Authority go to the company Hernán Solís.

With an investment of between $20 and $25 million, the Ministry of Public Works is putting out to tender the widening of the stretch of road going from Pozuelo Factory up to the Funeraria Jardines del Recuerdo.
According to Pedro Castro, chief of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), the tender is ready, they're just waiting on resolving an environmental issue and if there are no setbacks the project will be published next week in the La Gaceta.

The Ministry of Public Works has announced the construction of a bridge to connect Avenida Santa Elena, the Cincuentenario way and the East Coast.
Jaime Ford, chief of the MOP disclosed the cost of the project during a presentation on road works to members of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama. The official explained that they realized the need for this work after they finished the widening of the Cincuentenario road, which required $140 million.
The executive is negotiating a loan for the expansion of the road between Escuintla and Ciudad Pedro de Alvarado, in Jutiapa.

The Inter-American Development Bank has approved a loan to Honduras for $17.2 million to be used to support the expansion of the CA-5 North, the main highway in Honduras.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has announced the approval of a loan of $17.2 million to support the expansion and improvement of the CA-5 North, which is the main highway in Honduras.
A $200 million IDB loan will provide support for the execution of 162 transportation infrastructure projects, of which 75 are ready to be auctioned.
The projects are currently in the final phase of requirements for bids to be submitted and correspond to 55 Costa Rican municipalities and seven municipal councils. Within the works required in this first phase are paving works, asphalting, and works on gutters and bridge construction.
In the first month of the year, builders participating in the Road Maintenance Fund tenders for maintenance works on roads in Guatemala fell by 50%.
Of the 85 projects for patching and repairing unpaved roads awarded, participation amounted 2.3 construction companies per contest and 4.7 for the patching works for dirt roads.
