Fomilienio expects to tender the first section of the Northern Longitudinal Road in the country’s eastern half.
Specifically, the section that is being designed for tender is the one that runs from Nuevo Edén de San Juan to Gotera.
In an article in laprensagrafica.com, José Ángel Quirós, executive director of Fomilenio, also indicated that the 7 kilometers from Santa Rosa to Guachipelín Matazano will be tendered at the end of May, and that later this year, it expects to launch and award the 2 bridges over the Lempa River: “The 150 meter long En Nombre de Jesús, Sensuntepeque bridge, and the 250 meter long Nuevo Edén de San Juan bridge, in San Miguel."
The bidding for the second section (13.4 km) of the Longitudinal Highway North was opened.
There were six companies that made bids: MNV S.A. Gaskapital GRSA Consortium, the Italian company ASTALDI S.p.A., Constructora Santa Fe, Meco, CPK Consultores and SBI International Holding.

Central America and Mexico agreed on a plan to harmonize the rules on weights and dimensions allowed on roads and ports.
The Directorate of the Mesoamérica Project announced in a press release: "The main priority in this plan is to simplify procedures and improve the weight control and dimensions that apply in ports and roads in the region with the objective of those countries saving in investments."
