From January to April 2019 the company Apple Vacations will be running a weekly charter flight between the airport of Liberia, Guanacaste, and Rockford in Illinois, United States.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) reported that the route which will bring 2,340 tourists to the country will have a weekly frequency.
JetBlue announced the addition of a second weekly flight from Boston and Apple Vacations will incorporate the Liberia Missouri-Saint Louis route, which will be operated by XTRAirways.
JetBlue will operate its second flight on Sunday in a A320 aircraft with capacity for 150 passengers, starting in January and to be maintained throughout the season. Meanwhile XTRAirways will use a Boeing 737-400 with capacity for 150 people, operating from March 18 this year to August 5, 2016.
In 2013 the number of building permits requested for hotel establishments across the country dropped by 62% compared to 2012.
The number of square meters authorized in the last 12 months between February 2013 and January 2014 fell to 47,515 m2 compared with the 126,036 m2 in the previous period, according to the Costa Rican Chamber of Construction.
A long list of hotel investments are coming; 45 new hotels and $945 million in investment between 2012 and 2015.
Without reaching the levels of the pre-crisis boom of 2008, investment in the sector has rebounded registering $945 million in 45 new hotels from 2012 to 2015.
One example is the Sheraton hotel with an investment of $40 million which began operations this month in Escazú, and another brand that is to open is Andaz Papagayo which is opening in Guanacaste in December after an investment of $70 million. Similarly, other projects have opened their doors in the last year, while others plan to do so from between now and up until the end of 2015.
