The Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA) is putting out to tender the construction and expansion of the Peripheral Warehouse and Warehouse for Airport Site Materials.
Government Purchase El Salvador LP-23/2013 :
" CONSTRUCTION AND EXPANSION OF PERIPHERAL WAREHOUSE AND WAREHOUSE FOR MATERIALS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT EL SALVADOR - Hiring a Natural Person , Legal , and / or Bidders Union , national or foreign, to execute the works which includes among other things activities ranging from site preparation, demolition , dismantling , reinstallation , reinforced concrete structures, construction of walls, roof structure and cover, fibre-cement modular false ceiling, floor, sidewalk, doors, electrical installations such as pipelines, electrical panel installation, switches, sockets and lights . "
A new wind farm and the expansion of the International Airport of El Salvador, are the first two projects to be conducted under this system.
"Today (yesterday) I called a meeting with the president of CEPA (Autonomous Executive Port Commission) and CEL (Executive Hydroelectric Commission of the Lempa River) to immediately structure the first two projects: the expansion of the international airport and the wind project which the CEL is working with," said Alexander Segovia, Technical Secretary of the Presidency.
Plans for the construction of the airport of Puerto de San José, Escuintla, are ready, and a partnership with the private sector is being sought to provide the finance of $140 million required for the project.
The aim of the construction of this airport is to relieve pressure on the air traffic in the terminal of La Aurora. Due to the fact that the necessary funds have not been obtained, the state is aiming to complete the project via a public-private partnership model.
They include the modernization and expansion of the International Airport of El Salvador, the concession for Port of La Union, and the generation of 350 MW of energy, among other things.

The President, Mauricio Funes, called today for the creation of a solid alliance involving all of the country's sectors in order to achieve acceptable goals of economic growth, employment generation and equitable distribution of wealth.
As of yesterday a tender was launched for the repair of the airport in Comalapa's runway, a project that will consume, along with another nine, 65% of the $58.3 million raised in a recent securitization.
The Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA by its initials in Spanish) said the project also includes the rehabilitation of 240,000 square meters of road surfacing taxiways (alternative routes to the main runway), as well as other areas of the airport.
The Autonomous Executive Port Commission has announced that next January refurbishment of the International Airport of El Salvador will start.
This comes after having secured funds through a securitization and a loan from Central American Bank for Economic Integration.
"Some works have already started, such as the remodeling of the stairs in the passenger reception area, a passenger elevator and improved air conditioning in part of the airport.
The CABEI has approved loans for infrastructure work in ports and airports, and construction of prisons amounting to $92 million and $71 million respectively.

The government of El Salvador and AviancaTaca managers are working together to explore possibilities for the renewal and expansion of the International Airport of El Salvador.
Roberto Kriete, Chairman of the Board of AviancaTaca, said they are working together with representatives from the State and the Autonomous Executive Port Commission, to find a solution for the redevelopment of the airport terminal.
The infrastructure work and renovation of radar and communications equipment brings the investment to $66 million.
The renovation of the El Salvador International Airport (AIES by its Spanish abbreviations) has entered its first phase, which includes the installation of an elevator, construction of new bleachers, replacement of half the air conditioning systems and changing of 50 % of all toilets.
