Now customers who receive their digital receipt in Costa Rica will have eight business days, from the first day of the month following the transaction, to inform the Treasury of the rejection or acceptance of the invoice.
Prior to this modification, which was published by the General Directorate of Taxation on February 20 in the official newspaper La Gaceta, the client had eight working days from the time of receiving the electronic receipt to inform the Tax Office of the rejection or acceptance.
The Chamber of Industries in Costa Rica has filed an administrative appeal against the decision by the Treasury department to require major contributors to produce records of their shareholders.

At the end of 2014 363 companies were registered as being dedicated to providing pest control services, targetting mainly the industrial, food and hotel sectors.

Starting in March the Ministry of Finance in Costa Rica will charge sales tax on soft drinks at the distribution stage and not in the final bill to consumers.
In an appeal to the facility to define at what point in the marketing chain sales tax is levied, the General Department of Taxation has announced that starting from March, sales tax paid on soda drinks will be charged on the distribution of product.
The decree submitted for public consultation by the General Directorate of Taxation of Costa Rica requires commercial companies to provide information about its members and the composition of its capital.
There is currently a period of 10 working days for companies that do not agree with the draft decree to declare so and make comments. This measure aims to implement the standards of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Ministry of Finance has announced that tour operators and travel agencies are not subject to the 2% deduction relating to advanced income tax payment on credit card transactions.
From a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic of Costa Rica:
The Ministry of Finance today reported that at the request of the representatives of the tourism industry, the General Department of Taxation review the status of tour operators and travel agencies and exclude them from withholding money, on the grounds that these two activities in the tourism sector supported the request with their technical studies which were reviewed by the Tax Administration Office. This exclusion does not include the hotel industry.
An injunction which since November suspended retention of 2% as an advance payment for tax on card transactions, has been declaration void.
The General Department of Taxation, at the Ministry of Finance announced that the measure will be effective immediately. "... The retention will be applied on 88% of the amount of each transaction, so effectively the amount withheld is 1.78%. "
