The Government of Panama has earmarked $12 million for the purchase of set-top boxes for digital television.
"We will continue to purchase all of the boxes that are needed, we will give them to every Panamanian who has analog television so that they can receive digital signals" confirmed President Ricardo Martinelli.
The new network of the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad started with initial coverage in 23% of the territory, with speeds from 6 to 10 Mbps.
According to the customer manager of Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), Jaime Palermo, the service is focused on providing data to clients who wish to navigate at high speeds. Marketing will initially be done through Datacards.

In the first half of 2008, there were 107.142 Internet users in El Salvador. One year later, there were 140.321, a 31% increase.
Waldo Hooker, Marketing Manager at Telefónica Móviles El Salvador, remarks that "the market has been growing thanks to the offers and benefits users receive".
Sony Style will open its second store in Panama City by the end of the month.
The store is located in Metro shopping mall, and has 300 square meters of exhibition space.
