The Changuinola II project has been reopened and on April 25 proposals for its design, financing, construction and operation will be received.
On April 25, the Empresa de Generación Eléctrica (Egesa) will receive proposals from those interested in the design, financing, construction and operation of the hydroelectric station Chan II, which will produce 213.6 MW, fed from waters of the Changuinola River in the province of Bocas del Toro.
On February 26 the contractor Odebrecht will start construction and will have a timeframe of 920 days to complete the work.
Starting February 26, the construction company Norberto Odebrecht will have 920 days to carry out the works for the third power transmission line. Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. gave the order to proceed on Wednesday.

With a price of $234 million, the company Norberto Odebrecht has been awarded the design and construction of a third power transmission line.
The resolution for the award by the Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica (Etesa) includes the acceptance of the proposed plan for long-term financing by the Brazilian construction company Norberto Odebrecht, however, it does not detail what the conditions are.
With a price tag of $234 million, Odebrecht obtained the highest score in the tender for the design and construction of a third power transmission line.

Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. (ETESA) this morning presented the results of the total scores for the technical and economic evaluations of bids submitted by Consorcio Interconexión Panamá and Constructora Norberto Odebrecht for the design, supply, construction and financing of a third transmission line Veladero - Llano Sanchez - La Chorrera - Panama, in 230kV and adaptation to the associated substations. Meeting the deadlines set out in the Public Procurement Act 22, the company with the highest score in the bid was Constructora Norberto Obredecht.
The Consortium Interconexión Panamá and the construction firm Norberto Odebrecht have submitted bids to design and build the third power transmission line.
"After receiving two proposals, we now proceed to the stage of technical assessment, and later we would analyze the price of each proposal. If all goes well, then we would award and build the project" said Fernando Marciscano, manager of the Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica (Etesa).
An award will be given for the construction of the third transmission line Veladero-Llano -Sánchez-Chorrera Panama of 230 kilowatts, and the Associated Substations.
The companies who attended the clarification meeting of the tender sought to extend the deadline for the receipt of bids, set for next July 1.
