The trade union of electronic commerce reports that the number of companies in the country that sell via the internet has grown mainly in the last two years, to reach 750.
Representatives from the union reported that between 2016 and 2017, the number of companies in the country that use the internet to sell products grew by 200%.
Following the downward trend registered since last year, in February 2018 the Confidence Index of Economic Activity fell by 38% compared to the same month in 2017.
According to the survey carried out by Banco de Guatemala, an inflationary rhythm of 4.7% is forecast for February, 4.6% for March and 4.6% for April 2018.As for December 2018 and 2019, the Panel foresees an inflationary rhythm of 4.6% and 4.7%, in that order. In addition, in a forecast for 12 and 24 months (February 2019 and February 2020) the Panel foresees an inflationary rhythm of 4.67% and 4.56%, respectively.
The plan proposed by the Morales administration to increase the country's competitiveness focuses on the development of forestry, agriculture, textiles, clothing and footwear, metalworking, light manufacturing, tourism and construction, among other things.

Reports state that in 2017 the registration of mercantile companies in Guatemala grew 10% compared to 2016.

The union of private companies has filed a complaint with the Public Ministry against the blockades made in recent days by the Rural Residents Development Committee.

Executives in the Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations (CACIF) filed a complaint with the Public Ministry (PM) against the blockades taking place to day by the Rural Residents Development Committee (Codeca).

Main changes in the new Commercial Code:
