From April 24th to 26th 150 exporters of services will be gathering together in Costa Rica with international buyers from sectors such as audiovisual, global health, information and communication technologies, education, biotechnology and green technologies.
The event is being organized by Cinde and will take place at the Real Intercontinental Hotel, where business conferences will also be held in which interested companies can participate.
This year Costa Rica will focus on consolidating itself as a global destination, of a potential market of approximately 9 million tourists.
Global promotion to position Costa Rica as a destination will begin in 2018. According to data from the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (ICT), the average tourist who visits the country spends 18 nights and spends $3,200, and in addition, prefers small lodgings, local food and crafts.
On September 19th and 20th, 2017 in Antigua, Guatemala, business appointments will be held between international buyers and handicraft companies from Central America.
In the eleventh edition of the New World Crafts Fair, around a thousand products from craft companies from Central America will be exhibited, and several rounds of business appointments will be held with some 100 international buyers.
The sector is made up of 861 companies that generate at least $692 million a year, and the destination markets for the exports that have grown the most in recent years are Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Canada and Germany.

Panama, November 29, 2017.In order to position the Panamanian furniture industry in the region, the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) and the National Association of Furniture and Credit Institutions (ANaMIC) is organizing the second version of EXPO MUEBLE: Home and Office, to be held from September 21 to 22 2018 at the ATLAPA Convention Center.
From January 18 to 20, 2018, manufacturers and distributors of construction, industrial, agricultural and mining machinery will be showcasing their products and taking part in business meetings.
The event is being organized by the Association of Distributors of Machinery in Panama (Adima), and will be held at the Atlapa Convention Center, in Panama City.
As of December 1, import tariffs for consumer goods such as food, health supplements, shoes and clothing, among other things, will fall from 17% to an average of 7%.
The measure will take effect on December 1 and will affect 187 types of products, which include clothing, shoes, appliances, medicines or entertainment items, the ministry said in a statement on its website.
In the last ten years, exports from Costa Rica to countries in the European Union grew from $840 million in 2007, to $1.678 billion in the third quarter of this year.
Medical devices, bananas, pineapples, and coffee are some of the products responsible for most of the growth in exports to European countries in recent years. For example, as of September of this year, Procomer figures indicate that "... the European Continent represented 22% of sales this third quarter, with a total of US $1.753 billion (+ US $146 million). Among the main drivers, were: banana, with exports to Belgium, the United Kingdom and Ukraine; medical devices, which boosted exports to Belgium and the Netherlands; as well as greater exports of pineapples to Portugal and coffee to the Netherlands." A study by Procomer analyzes the market for the manufacture of medical devices in the North American country, made up of 5,348 companies, of which 91% are small businesses.

As of November 2017, 349 franchises were registered in the country, of which 24% are national and 76% international.
Data from the VIII Study of the franchise market in Costa Rica reveals that the sector has accumulated growth of 133% in the last seven years, with highlights including growth of international franchises in the country and a greater presence of Costa Rican franchises operating beyond their borders.

A call is being made to SMEs from the sectors of food and beverages, hygiene and personal care, cleaning for the home, plastic products, cosmetics, and other manufactured goods to participate in a business conference which will take place on the 26th and 27th of September 2018 in Antigua, Guatemala.
Between 2012 and 2016 imports of cosmetic products for spas and beauty centers in the North American grew by 12%, surpassing $3.5 billion.
