The Guatemalan Public Prosecutor's Office tenders the supply of armored vehicles of different types for the institution's use.

"Details of vehicles required:
Two armored vans, minimum model 2019, six-cylinder, three thousand six hundred cubic centimeters, gasoline, automatic transmission type. Shielding of the entire cabin (roof, front area or fire wall, side doors and rear door) and fuel tank, with the capacity to resist calibers 7.62x51mm and 5.56x45mm, as a minimum.
Banco de Costa Rica is putting out to tender ten armored vehicles, five with engines from 3,000 cc to 4,500 cc, and another five with engines from 4,501 cc to 7,000 cc.

With funds from the Security Fee the Judicial Council will hold a tender for the purchase of 24 armored vehicles.
"We have to find the best deal, to make the most of the money so we can acquire these vehicles," said Francisco Quiroz, a member of the Judicial Council.
The cars will be used by all judiciaries in the country to provide protection for judges who are at risk because of their activities, especially those related to extradition cases.
The Minister of the Interior may have indicated that Nicaragua is ready to buy Russian Tigr armored vehicles, weapons and equipment for special police operations.

It is expected the 2011 elections to be the most violent in years, leading to increased demand for security products.
Armored vehicle companies report increases of up to 70% compared to last year. The service is demanded by businessmen and also by leaders of political parties, who require high-level armor capable of withstanding assault rifles.
The country´s insecurity is forcing about 600 vehicles a year to be shielded, the Guatemalan state being a major customer, just the Ministry of Interior has requested 67 contracts with two companies for a total of $ 948,000, reports Elperiodico.com.gt.
Upon growing insecurity and violent crime in the region, the protection offered by bullet-proof cars is sought more and more.
According to the report by Fernando Quiñónez in Siglo XXI, "The insecurity that Guatemalans perceive and that of some foreigners in their countries of origin has caused an increase in the demand for cars with the bullet-proof option."
