The Honduran Tourism Institute has announced that the airline Air Europa will continue operating the flight between Honduras and Spain until April 2018.
Authorities from the Honduran Institute of Tourism (IHT) confirmed the airline's decision to continue providing the air service.
Sue Chávez, marketing manager for IHT, told Elheraldo.hn: " ...´We have been operating the service for six months with very good results, the average occupancy rate is above 80%.'"
A delegation of tourism entrepreneurs led by the owner of Air Europa are in Managua to explore business opportunities with the government and local companies.
The entrepreneurs who make up the group represent companies linked to the tourism sector, such as the airline Air Europa, tour operators and others. Representatives from the government explained to Elnuevodiario.com.ni that the businessmen "... are going to meet with the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism, aeronautical authorities and ProNicaragua."
The Honduran Institute of Tourism has announced that the first flight operated by Air Europa, between Madrid and San Pedro Sula, is scheduled for April 27.

The Honduran government has announced that from April 2017 and for six months, the airline Air Europa will operate one direct flight per week between Madrid and San Pedro Sula.
A statement issued by Coalianza of Honduras states that "...The European airline will leave the Spanish capital on Wednesday and return to San Pedro Sula on Thursday on an Airbus A330-200 aircraft with 275 seats in economy class and 24 in first class."
Air Europa has announced that from December 2015 to March 2016 it will operate a weekly flight between the city of Madrid and Tocumen International Airport.
The flight will be only for the peak tourist season, as announced by the airline, but they have not ruled out the possibility of keeping the operation beyond March 2016, depending on the results obtained during the four months when the flights will be made.
The European airline will start the route Madrid-Panama in October, with 4 weekly frequencies.
On January 21st, the Panamanian Tourism Authority (ATP) and Air Europa signed a collaboration agreement which regulates the new route, to be operated with 299-passenger planes.
