The production of both grains will be around 37.5 million and 5 million quintals respectively, therefore the MAGA is able to guarantee the supply for domestic consumption.
According to Carlos Anzueto, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food, preliminary projections for consumption are in the order of 2.4 quintals per person per year (about 33.6 million quintals), and in the case of beans, per capita consumption is equivalent to about 30 pounds per year (about 4.2 million quintals).
Productivity has been increased through a continuous production system and added to the production of sugar are alcohols, ethanol, molasses and electricity.
While India and Mexico (largest sugar producers in the world), have opted to reduce consumption areas for sugarcane cultivation due to a fall in prices, Nicaragua is to establish a new record to produce up to 15.5 million quintals in the 2012-2013 harvest which ends in the coming weeks.
The Sugar Association of El Salvador expects an 8.8% increase in the 2011/12 harvest, as compared to the previous cycle.
Producers and refineries anticipate production to total 625,000 metric tons of sugar and 210,000 of molasses, a considerable increase on the previous cycle, when there were 574,000 tons of sugar and 197,000 of molasses.

In Costa Rica, October’s excessive rain has caused losses of $2.5 million in the sector.

The country's rice production will not be enough to meet demand, meaning that rice must be bought from abroad, creating rifts between producers and manufacturers about how much should be imported duty free.
The producers say the national deficit will be 10.891 tons, while agribusinesses consider it necessary to buy 30,000 metric tons.
