XXII Regional Sustainable Energy Forum

During the event, which will take place 1 and 2 October in Panama, there will be discussion of the benefits associated with renewable energy projects in the region.

From a press release issued by the National Environmental Authority (ANAM):

The Energy and Environment Partnership with Central America (EEP) will hold the XXII Regional Sustainable Energy Forum on 1 and 2 October in Panama.

Maria Eugenia Salabarría, managing director of the AEA, based in El Salvador, met with representatives of the National Environmental Authority (ANAM) and the National Energy Secretariat (SNE) to explain "the terms of reference and the logistics for the organization of the XXII Forum".

The activity is being carried out jointly by the General Secretariat of the Central American Integration System (SICA) and the Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD), whose Pro Tempore Presidency is currently held by Panama.

Forum on Renewable Energy in Nicaragua

On March 26th private sector companies will participate in a Forum on Business Investment in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

In order to promote investment in renewable energy, on 26 March the Business Roundtable for Investment in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel.

Panama to Host Energy Symposium

September 2012

From 10 to 11 October the fifth International Symposium on Energy will be held, organized by the Union of Industrialists of Panama (SIP in Spanish) and the National Energy Secretariat.

The International Symposium on Energy is being held in order to find viable solutions with low environmental impact to energy problems and encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences in a national and international forum for discussion and negotiation.

Carbon Credit Market in Panama

April 2012

Eight Panamanian projects have been authorized by a UN commission to sell carbon credits on global markets and there are 24 initiatives in the evaluation phase.

The Executive Board of Clean Development Mechanisms of the United Nations Convention Framework on Climate Change, is the body which has authorized eight projects established in Panama to sell carbon credits on the international market.

New Wind Farm in Panama

March 2010

Studies are underway to build a wind power farm in “Lídice de Capira”.

The project is being developed by the Energy and Environment Partnership with the Americas (EEP), and is almost 100% approved by the National Environment Authority (ANAM).

“The idea is to generate electric energy for the nearby communities”, explained César Castillo, from ANAM.
