Wind Energy: Wind Farm to Start Operations

As of April 2021, the Ventus wind power plant, an electricity generation park with an installed capacity of 54 MW, will begin operating in El Salvador.

The new power generation park, which has 15 wind turbines of 120 meters high each, is located in the municipality of Metapan, Department of Santa Ana.

Laprensagrafica.com reports that "... the first wind energy plant in the country starts this month to inject commercially. In the statistics of the National Energy Council (CNE) wind energy already appears since this year, although still without data, since the commercial operation of the Ventus plant, owned by Tracia Network Corporation, officially starts this month, since last March they finished its installation."

The publication adds that "... the park located in the municipality of Metapan, department of Santa Ana, involved an $85.5 million investment and has an installed capacity to generate 54 megawatts."

CentralAmericaData reports detail that for the construction of this energy project Banco Agromercantil de Guatemala lent $43 million and Banco Cuscatlán authorized a $10 million credit line.

Banco Agromercantil de Guatemala announced a $43 million loan for the construction of part of the 54 MW Ventus wind farm to be located in the municipality of Metapán.

It was reported in February that the Guatemalan and Honduran capital company, Ventus, will invest $73 million over 10 years in the construction of a wind farm with a capacity of 54 MW, and that the tax benefits to be granted to it in El Salvador resulted from the signing of a Legal Stability contract for Investments.

Honduras: 50 MW Wind Farm Starts Operations

February 2015

An announcement has been made of the launch of a wind power generation plant built and operated by the company Terra Energy in San Marcos de Colón, in the department of Choluteca.

The plant has the capacity to generate 50 MW, with 25 wind turbines and is located south of the capital. The project required an investment of $100 million and was completed before the agreed time, three years.

Costa Rica: 49 MW Wind Farm Starts Operation

July 2014

The "Chiripa" park in Guanacaste consists of 33 1.5 MW wind turbines and is operated by the consortium made up of the Spanish firm ACCIONA and Grupo Ecoenergía from Costa Rica.
