Studies of the Harvard Medical School indicated that these breaks are essential for the brain and are the equivalent of sleep hours to the human body, they are critical for synthesizing information and the generation of relationships between ideas.

At an educational level, "the issue has become so important that now there is talk of a digital diet, referring to the need to dose and be in control of the Internet and other digital technologies," noted an article in PrensaLibre.com.
