Which are Guatemala's Potential Markets?

The Guatemalan export sector identifies Florida, Texas, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, New Jersey and New York as the U.S. states with the greatest potential for the country's exportable supply.

Friday, December 7, 2018

The Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport) presented the "Best Markets, Products and Services 2019", which is based on the analysis of different macroeconomic variables, sustained growth and market dimensions, to show the exporter the opportunities with the greatest potential.

The study details that the 50 states of the United States were evaluated, being one of the relevant variables for its analysis the concentration of Hispanic population in each one of them. Of these, 11 states with the greatest potential for Guatemalan exports were selected, including: Florida, Texas, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, New Jersey, and New York. Among these states, the main market for non-traditional Guatemalan products is Illinois, importing knitted sweaters at a constant growth rate of 340%.

According to the export guild, among the "Best Products" are products such as bakery, sauces and balanced foods, which were the most exported to the Central American region in the last year and show significant growth rates.

In this new edition, the Asian market is studied with 6 countries, within the classification new market/new product. It is a region with high potential in the medium term because of its consistent growth in the last 5 years, in which Guatemala has participated with a 245% average growth.
