Which Companies Built Sports Centers in 2018?

Last year, nearly $75 million in contracts to build public sports centers were awarded in Panama, being Enobras S.A. the company that accumulated the largest amount awarded.

Data from the information system "Public Purchases in Central America" by CentralAmericaData, details the list of companies favored with contracts to carry out construction works in 2018, in tenders published by the Panamanian Institute of Sports.

Main Construction Companies
During the period concerned, Administración e Inversiones del Istmo S.A., Centroequipos S.A., Construcciones y Edificaciones del Pacífico S.A and Servicori obtained contracts for approximately $23 million, equivalent to 30% of the total value awarded.

Praxis Group, Pinturas Garantizadas S.A. and Barnaros Inc. also won important contracts for the construction of sports facilities.

The types of venues that have been awarded include the construction and equipping of baseball, softball and soccer stadiums, swimming pools, sports complexes, synthetic grass soccer fields and other facilities.

Contracts for Sports Infrastructure Works

October 2017

Since 2015 to date contracts worth $146 million have been awarded in Panama for various construction works on public sports centers.

Data from the Information System "Public Procurement in Central America" compiled by CentralAmericaData, shows that from 2015 to date, the Panamanian Institute of Sports has put out to tender 187 contracts, of which 96 have been awarded and another 91 are pending award or were closed without the contract having been granted.

Construction of Sports Center Planned

In Costa Rica the municipality of Escazú plans to invest $6 million in the construction of a sports village, which will include a gym for 1,500 people, an amphitheater, confectionery store and function rooms.

The Comptroller General of the Republic has authorized the Municipality of Escazú to build a sports village on a plot of land in the district of San Antonio.

Guatemala: Oil Field Exploitation Awarded

July 2009

"Rubelsanto", "Tierra Blanca", "Caribe" and "Chinajá Oeste" oil fields will be exploited for 25 years by Petrolera del Istmo.

The contract was celebrated between the Guatemalan Ministry of Energy and Mines and "Empresa Petrolera del Istmo S.A. (EPI)", a subsidiary of US-based MQuest International Inc. The concession can be extended after the initial 25 years.

June 2009

Exploration rights for the petroleum fields of Rubelsanto, Chinajá, Caribe and Tierra Blanca was granted to Petrolera del Istmo, S.A. with a 25-year period.

The subsidiary of the American company MQuest International Inc., Petrolera del Istmo, S.A., submitted the only proposal for the bid for the the exploration of the oil fields.
