From a statement issued by the Legislature:

After reaching consensus with most of the parliamentary groups, the Legislative Assembly during the plenary session on Wednesday approved with 49 votes, the General Budget of the Nation (PGN) and its respective Wages Act for the current fiscal year, which is estimated at $4, 957, 831.280.

In respect to this, the PGN intends to support discipline in current expenditure without affecting the delivery of services to the population, this means being consistent with the provisions of Article 10 of the Fiscal Responsibility Law for Sustainable Finance public and Social Development.

On Tuesday the Congress approved, with 115 votes, Decree 50-2016, which contains the Revenue and Expenditure Budget of the Nation for Fiscal Year 2017, amounting to almost $10 billion (309 million 451 thousand Q77 mil), although the Commission of Public Finance and Currency had decided Q76.9 million based on the proposal submitted by the Executive Agency.

23% of the approved budget for 2016 will go to the Public Investment Program, which includes infrastructure projects such as hospitals, roads and rural electrification.

The 2016 budget is 14% higher than in 2015, and of the total, 23% of resources will be focused on public investments.

The General Budget of Revenues and Expenditures for fiscal year 2013 has been approved by the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador.

The Legislature has approved, with 55 votes, the General Budget of the Nation, which amounts to $4,505,302,405 "which will provide legal certainty and financial functioning for all Salvadoran state institutions " said the President of the Finance Committee, Lorena Peña, who revealed that "the only change it contains is a redistribution of $17 million."
