What the State of El Salvador will be Spending on in 2017

In the budget approved by the Assembly $943 million has been allocated to the Administration of Justice and Public Safety and $914 million to paying off public debt.

From a statement issued by the Legislature:

After reaching consensus with most of the parliamentary groups, the Legislative Assembly during the plenary session on Wednesday approved with 49 votes, the General Budget of the Nation (PGN) and its respective Wages Act for the current fiscal year, which is estimated at $4, 957, 831.280.

In respect to this, the PGN intends to support discipline in current expenditure without affecting the delivery of services to the population, this means being consistent with the provisions of Article 10 of the Fiscal Responsibility Law for Sustainable Finance public and Social Development.

The 2016 budget is 14% higher than in 2015, and of the total, 23% of resources will be focused on public investments.

The Legislature has approved, with 55 votes, the General Budget of the Nation, which amounts to $4,505,302,405 "which will provide legal certainty and financial functioning for all Salvadoran state institutions " said the President of the Finance Committee, Lorena Peña, who revealed that "the only change it contains is a redistribution of $17 million."
