What Public Works are Being Built in Central America?

University infrastructure in Costa Rica, and road construction and office building in Panama, are some of the public infrastructure projects planned for the coming months in the region.

CentralAmericaData's information system "Construction Projects in Central America,", compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit,  provides an up to date list of public and private construction projects for which environmental impact assessments (EIAs) were submitted to Institutions in each country in February 2017.

Details of some of the projects: 

The National University Of Costa Rica submitted an EIA to build, in the district of San Pablo, province of Heredia, an administrative building, warehouses and a convention center. The project is called "San Pablo Complex" and according to the study $11,057,946 will be invested.

The Panamanian Ministry of Public Works presented an EIA to construct, in the district of Penomé, province of Coclé, a 13 kilometer road with a 6 meter wide surface. The project is called "Diseño y Construcción del Camino Sardina - Las Cuestas de Marica - Toabre" and according to the document the overall investment will be $9,975,000.

The General Comptroller of the Republic of Panama submitted an EIA to build in Changuinola, Bocas del Toro province, a four-storey building with a total enclosed area of 2,706 m and an total open area of 1,509 m. The project is called "Edificio para la sede regional de la Contraloría en el Empalme, Changuinola" and according to the study $3,437,457 will be invested.

Costa Rica: $21 million for University Infrastructure

An environmental impact study has been presented to build a university campus in San Pablo, province of Heredia.

According to CentralAmericaData 's identification system for Construction Projects, the environmental impact assessment study (EIA) was submitted by Somugo S.A. to the National Environmental Technical Secretariat (SETENA) on December 22 2016.
