One will be located in the province of San José and the other in Heredia, and will employ a total of 70 people.

The San José restaurant will be opened at Paseo Colón, and the one in Heredia will be located at shopping mall Real Cariari.

Wendy’s opened its first Costa Rican restaurant back in 2006, in the city of San José, noted Nacion.com.

"Comidas Rápidas Wentica", Costa Rican operator of the franchise, will open its fifth restaurant in the country.

The $1 million restaurant is located in shopping mall "Paseo de las Flores", in Heredia, and will be open for customers in November.

Costa Rica: McDonald's opens first "ecological" restaurant

The $2 million restaurant maximizes usage of natural light and does not need air conditioning.

Located in Lindora, Santa Ana, western San José, it has 400 square meters of construction. It employs 50 people, and is the chain's 34th store in the country.

According to Arcos Dorados, McDonald's operator in Costa Rica and Latin America, this is the first "ecological" restaurant in Central America.
