Wellness Tourism Promotion

Costa Rican authorities signed an agreement for the promotion and consolidation of the country as a wellness tourist destination.

In addition to the cooperation agreement signed between the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and the Costa Rica Wellness Association, on May 16 the institution awarded a contract to the Costa Rican Technical Standards Institute (INTECO) to develop a national standard that establishes the service requirements that Wellness Spas must meet in order to be accredited.

From a statement issued by the ICT:

In order to promote and consolidate Costa Rica as an accredited wellness destination, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) signed a framework cooperation agreement with the Costa Rica Wellness Association on Wednesday.

The agreement outlines nine objectives, among them the realization of activities that seek the national and international recognition of Costa Rica as a destination for wellness; the handling of training, updates and professional training in the niche of wellness in the tourism sector, as well as providing tourism entrepreneurs with marketing tools for promoting this segment.
