Weak Recovery in Salvadoran Economy

According to research from El Salvador's Foundation for Economic and Social Development (Fusades), the country's economy is out of recession and displays a week recovery.

Fusades' status report for the second quarter of 2010 states that in the last six months 27 out of a possible 28 Salvadoran economic activity indicators showed a positive trend.

"For example, the organization commented that income from family remittances has increased 2.5% to June 2010, in contrast with the sharp 10.8% reduction experienced last year," reports Prensagrafica.com. "In addition, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to March had accrued to $6.1 billion, representing a slight increase on the figure reported at the close of 2009.
