Costa Rica and Guatemala, main buyers
During the first six months of 2018, the main buyer of washing machines in Central America was Costa Rica, with $18 million, followed by Guatemala, with $15 million, Panama, with $11 million, Honduras, with $9 million, El Salvador, with $8 million and Nicaragua, with $5 million.

Central America buys more washing machines
For the periods between January and June 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value of imported washing machines and their parts in Central America increased by 3%, from $64 million to $67 million.

Main suppliers in the region
In the first half of the year, 23% of regional purchases were from the U.S., 21% from Mexico, 20% from China, 18% from Thailand and 5% from Brazil.

For the first semester of the last seven years, Thailand is the market of origin of imports that has grown the most, as in 2012 it represented 11% of regional purchases and in 2018 the proportion rose to 18%.
