Imports by country
The main buyer of washing machines in Central America during the first three months of 2018 was Costa Rica, with $8 million, followed by Guatemala, with $7 million, Panama, with $5 million, Honduras, with $4 million, El Salvador and Nicaragua, with $3 million each.

Variation in regional imports
The value of imported washing machines and their parts in Central America slightly increased by 1% between January and March 2017 and the same period in 2018, increasing from $29 million to $29.3 million.

Origin of imports
During the first quarter of the year, 26% of regional purchases were from the US, 21% from Mexico, 20% from China, 14% from Thailand and 5% from Brazil.

In the first six months of 2018, Central America imported $67 million for washing machines and their parts, and purchases from Thailand increased 11% compared to the same period in 2017.
