The warning came from researchers at the University of Florida and may affect banana plantations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Prensalibre.com states, "With the information we have, the only alternative is to be prepared, because nobody knows when it can affect the region, according to pathologist Ploetz, linked to the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences of the University of Florida."
